This appears to be a cool innovation, especially if fission, fusion, outerspace solar panels or some other system can ensure an abundant electricity supply.  Note that if the U.S. experiences the same average rate of economic growth over the 21st century that it had over the 20th century, the average annual U.S. household income in 2100 will be $300,000.
There is every reason to expect that most of the world will be wealthy at that point.  I've previously mentioned that at current rates of economic growth China reaches the current U.S. standard of living in about 25 years and India in about 50 years.

i don't know if this has a carbon fiber frame, but Formula I racecars do, and Bill Joy, former Chief Scientist from Sun Microsystems owns a company, Fiber Forge, that is working to create affordable carbon fiber auto parts.  As those who use carbon fiber sporting equipment know, it is both lighter, stronger, and more flexible than steel, and can be designed to spec with diverse structural characteristics.  High performance carbon fiber autos with electric motors charged by safe, clean electrical sources may be the automobile system of the 21st century.

Regardless of whether it is electric cars and carbon fiber frames, or something else, with the price system strucutred to internalize externalities correctly, innovators and entrepreneurs will create wonderful, effective solutions to our transportation issues.
