"The Singing Revolution" is a wonderfully inspiring film of the role of singing in keeping the human spirit alive in Estonia during the Soviet occupation and the role of singing in creating a peaceful liberation from the Soviets. An entire culture devoted to singing, using their love of music to achieve truly amazing feats.
The director, Jim Tusty, speaks here about the film with a few great clips of the film included in his talk.
The photo shows the filmmakers filming the traditional annual Estonian Song Festival Laulupidu, through which they subverted the Soviet authorities by singing, that attracts about 7% of the population of Estonia.
Peace and singing!
