How do support each other to realize our unique "zaad" potential?

Peggy J [deleted] said Jun 18, 2006, 10:06 PM:

Through Education & Information, Sharing Resources, Creating Buddy-Teams of Support…

EXAMPLE: Create A ‘Good Health Plan & Support Team’ (or teams)

Human vitality and frailty scaled by maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) versus age. After the age of thirty-five years, humans begin to age as measured by loss of cardiovascular capacity, VO2 max. This is normal aging. However, the rate of loss of cardiovascular health depends on the amount of exercise one gets. Highly fit people lose VO2 max at 0.5% a year, the moderately fit age at 1% a year, and the lethargic age at 2% a year. Over twenty years the least fit will metabolically age about forty years, while the most fit will age only ten years. Disease and injury can accelerate this aging process. (Data from Bortz and Bortz 1996.)

1 We have a common goal to keep our bodies healthy
2 We have a common goal to build & enrich friendships
3 We love to learn & share what we have learned

Maybe we could connect with Gyms across the land, establish group accounts, we meet locally for swims & works outs, build friendships… would this not then lead to a more deeply connected Zaadz Village.

    Letting Go

Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all – young and old, rich and poor, good and evil – the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.

Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current was what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”

The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed against the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!”

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks.

Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, “See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the messiah, come to save us all!”

And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”

But they cried the more, “Savior!” all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a savior.

I agree that sharing in activities with others is very supportive.  I think the basic idea is to make the time to support one another.

Whether one is talking about getting together to exercise with others, writing a positive review for a book someone wrote, or purchasing one another's products or services, ultimately in order to support one another we must be willing to make time for doing it. I have noticed that people seem to be able to muster up lots of energy for attacking what they don't like and often don't seem to get much past that plus survival requirements. They run out of time before they ever get around to supporting the efforts of likeminded people.

Fortunately this isn't always the case, but it is so far too often. If we each make a commitment to spend one hour a week engaged in activities solely for the purpose of supporting efforts we believe are valuable in the world, that will make a huge difference.

Skydancer, you are right on the money!

The energy to attack is there, easy to come by… perhaps even hardwired into our minds… where is the energy to support and what are its sources… is it also hardwired, but in need of the right juice to let it FLOW?

I have a software company, and everyday we answer many questions from our customers. It is amazing how often someone will come in with guns blazing, and once they discover that there is a real live human being on the other end of the “send” button, they are so surprised and pleased… they calm down. They behave entirely differently. But still there is so much “crap” mail that feels like an attack… and it dulls my senses, and sometimes all that vulgarity, anger and hostility blurs my ability to respond to the real people who I know are out there and are looking for my advice and care.

Personally I find that the whole Zaadz thing restores my faith in humanity enough to answer my email again… which is worthwhile, in and of itself. I hope it stays the supportive environment that it is, where we touchy-feely types can restore ourselves before we go back “out there.” :-)

So some of the support is just here, by virtue of you reading these little posts, visiting our little profiles, and thinking about what we all have to offer each other and the world. Telling others outside of Zaadz (or even inside of Zaadz) about who does what…

It can be as simple as that.
